Juan

Nous avons reçu hier un nouveau gibbon, nommé “Juan”,  originaire du sud-ouest de Bornéo. Il a 8 ans. Il a vécu presque 6 ans dans une minuscule cage, le corps attaché à une tige de fer courbée… Ses crocs ont été coupés. Dés son arrivée à Kalaweit la tige de fer a été enlevée (photo). Elle a créée plusieurs plaies... Juan reçoit actuellement des soins. Il est au bureau de Kalaweit en attendant d’être envoyé au centre de Muara teweh.

We received yesterday a new gibbon, named « Juan », from south-west Borneo. He is 8 years old. He lived 6 years in a very small cage, his body attached to a steel bar… His canines have been removed… As soon as he arrived at Kalaweit, we removed the steel bar (picture). He is now at the office in Palangka Raya, waiting to be sent to our center in Muara teweh.

Kami menerima kemaren satu owa lagi dari Palangkalan bun. Owa tersebut berumur 8 tahun dan hidup 6 tahun di kandang kecil, dengan badannya di ikat besi… Taringnya telah di potong. Setelah tiba di Kalaweit, kami langsung buang ikatan besi (foto) yang sudah melukai owa ini yang bernama “Juan”. Dia sekarang masih di Kalaweit Palangka Raya sambil menunggu di kirim ke Kalaweit Muara teweh.

Kalaweit Sumatra

Les autorités du district de Solok, dans la province ouest de Sumatra, viennent de nous faire parvenir la carte officielle des hectares achetés à Supayang (99h), dernière étape avant l’obtention des titres de propriété.

Le repérage à Siberut s’est bien passé pour Féri (avec une grosse frayeur liée au séisme), et les macaques de Mentawai devraient retrouver la liberté vers le 20 Mai. (Photo de Féri et de son équipe lors du repérage)

Sur les 8 hectares du centre à Supayang la construction des volières (Photo) continue, ainsi que le déménagement des animaux de l’île Marak.

We just got, from the Solok District in West Sumatra, the official map of the land bought in Supayang. This is the last step before getting all certificates.

Feri’s survey in Siberut was good, and the Mentawai macaques will be released around of the 20 of May.

On our 8 hectares land in Supayang, Kalaweit is still busy building new enclosures, to receive all the animals from Marak.

Kalaweit Sumatra baru dapat peta dari BPN tentang kawasan hutan yang di amankan Kalaweit di Supayang (99h).

Hasil survey Feri di Siberut sangat baik, dan Kalaweit merencanakan pelepasan beruk Mentawai sekitar tgl 20 Mei 2012.

Di 8 hektar milik Kalaweit di Supayang, tim Kalaweit masih sibuk membangun kandang dan merawat satwa yang baru datang dari Pulau Marak.

Cecile and Moghway

Voici le dernier gibbon reçu à Kalaweit il y a maintenant plusieurs semaines. Elle s’appelle « Cécile » (du nom d’une des vétérinaires à Kalaweit).  De nombreux mois de négociation ont été nécessaires pour récupérer cette femelle, qui a vécu pendant plus de 7 ans dans une cage minuscule avec un chien. Elle est aujourd’hui en quarantaine à Kalaweit est se porte très bien.

Et voici Moghway (à droite). Lui est né à Kalaweit, sur l’ancien site, à Hampapak. Il a été mis en couple récemment avec Lia.

This is the last gibbon received by Kalaweit few weeks ago. Her name is “Cécile” -photo at the top- (from the name of one vet at Kalaweit). Many months were necessary to negotiate  to be able to rescue her. She lived 7 years in a very small cage with a dog… She is now still in quarantine at Kalaweit but she is doing fine.

And this is Moghway (right in the second picture). He was born at Kalaweit, many years ago at our old place named Hampapak. He is now paired to Lia (for the last few week).

Foto atas yang pertama : Ini owa-owa yang terahkir yang di terima oleh Kalaweit beberapa minggu lalu. Namanya “Cécile” (Dari nama salah satu drh yang ada di Kalaweit). Perlu berbulan-bulan negosiasi dengan pemiliknya  untuk menyelamatkan satwa ini. Betina ini hidup lebih 7 tahun di kandang sangat kecil bersama anjing. Sekarang Cecile baik2 aja dan masih berada di karantina di Kalaweit.

Dan ini Moghway (kanan di foto kedua). Dia lahir di Kalaweit, beberapa tahun yang lalu di lokasi lama yayasan, di Hampapak. Baru di pasangkan dengan Lia.
